I have been fortunate to live close to woodland for most of my life, even when living in cities. Glasgow's name is believed to have Celtic roots meaning 'dear green place'; in Toronto my home backed onto one of the city's many ravines; and in Montreal I was a near-daily visitor to Mount Royal. My dogs have always inspired these trips, ensuring opportunity even when my motivation to make pictures has been low.
